From April 2 through April 5, 2006, Kirton & McConkie hosted a lunch briefing and participated in the Utah Trade Mission to Mexico sponsored by the Governor’s Office of Economic Development for International Trade & Diplomacy (“ITDO”).
Businessmen from Utah stayed at the Presidente Intercontinental Hotel in Mexico City where a briefing dinner and other marketing-geared meetings were held. Some of the attendees included Joe Reyna, Regional President for Zions Bank Multi-Cultural Region, who also serves as Chairman-Elect of the Board of Directors of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; Sylvia Haro, Sr. Vice President of Community Affairs for Zions Bank; Mark Garfield, Regional Manager of Zions Bank International Department and member of the World Trade Association, Benjamin Martinez who currently serves as President of Panamerican Associates, Inc., and also serves on the Board of the Utah Hispanic Chamber of Commerce; C. Gabriel Sanchez, attorney licensed to practice in Mexico and a Foreign legal consultant with Kirton & McConkie, who sits on the Advisory Board for the Utah Governor’s Office of Economic Development; and John Bishop, a community philanthropist and General Manager of Chisco. Other Utah business representatives from various companies were represented. These include Concrete Coatings, Inc., Industrial Supply, L3-MPRI, Inc. Simulation Group, Cytozyme Laboratories, Inc., MAS Computer Recyclers, Inc., and Pure Fruit Technologies. These companies, representing a diverse range of products, and their representatives were provided networking opportunities with approximately fifty Mexican companies. Attendees were also briefed by a NAFTA expert, the U.S. Commercial Attaché for Mexico, the Deputy Trade Minister of the Mexican Secretariat of Economy, and the Chairman of the American Chamber of Commerce in Mexico.
